The first residential construction made from Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) has been completed by Holz DC in NSW.

Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) is a relatively new technology in Australia that has been used in Europe (where it originated from) for more than 40 years. It is the engineered wood of the future and has made the eco-friendly construction of entire buildings from timber a reality.

The highly anticipated Watermark Shellharbour residential development in Addison Street, Shellharbour Village – comprising six one and two-bedroom apartments in a boutique building – is constructed out of revolutionary CLT, setting new standards in the area for design quality and style.

The development boasts a unique architectural appearance thanks to its use of this new timber construction system, in which large timber panels are craned into place forming the overall structure of the building.

Holz DC, who provide developers and builders unrivalled access to a national collective of highly qualified independent CLT experts, worked with leading Australian construction company, Hyperbuild to deliver this on-time and under-budget project. The teams delivered the installation of 200 CLT panels by crane completed in just 15 days.

Holz DC’s Director Construction, Theo Pasialis says they have a proven track record in delivering CLT solutions for residential projects.

“We have been known to deliver a 15 per cent cost saving compared to traditional builds, with a further 20 per cent saving on construction time.” said Mr Pasialis.
